Italian-born coach, Enzo Maresca has explained why the trio of Cole Palmer, Romeo Lavia, and Wes Fofana were all left out of the Chelsea’s Conference League squad.
The 47-year-old soccer tactician who opened up in a chat with soccer journalist Reuben Rosso-Powell said that they were left out of the squad because the club was trying to protect them.
According to Maresca, they are happy with the performances of ole Palmer, Romeo Lavia, and Wes Fofana but they are just being careful not to overload the players.
Maresca said: “The reason why Cole Palmer, Romeo Lavia, and Wes Fofana are out of the Conference League squad is that we try to protect them”.
“Cole is fit, he’s fine”.

“We are happy with how he is,” he added.
Maresca who declared his love for Chelsea and the team in general also disclosed that he told both Jadon Sancho and Joao Felix that they won’t play for the club if they don’t work properly.
He said; “I spoke with Sancho and Joao Felix when they joined and I told them: if you come here and don’t work properly, then you’re not going to play”.
“Before they arrived the message for them was clear”.
“I was in love with the squad and now I’m in love with the club”.
“It’s one of the best clubs in the world and I’m happy with what we are doing,” the coach added.
