Nigeria’s equity market continued its positive momentum on Tuesday, with the All-Share Index recording a significant gain of 1.57%, climbing to 111,606.22 points compared to the prior session’s close of 109,884.92 points.
Market capitalisation experienced parallel growth, advancing by 1.57% to reach ₦70.377 trillion, up from ₦69.292 trillion in the previous trading session. This upward movement contributed an additional ₦1.085 trillion to the overall market value.
Trading activity remained robust, with investors exchanging 409.6 million share units across 15,992 transactions, generating a total turnover of ₦9.9 billion.
Market sentiment remained predominantly optimistic, evidenced by 36 stocks posting gains, while 21 securities recorded price declines, resulting in favourable market breadth.
Airtel Africa emerged as the session’s top performer, surging 10.00% to settle at ₦2,372.50, representing a substantial increase from its previous closing price of ₦2,156.90.
Other notable performers included OMATEK, Cornerstone Insurance, and NAHCO, which registered impressive gains of 9.23%, 8.63%, and 8.39%, respectively, during the trading session.
On the declining side, MCNICHOLS topped the losers’ chart, dropping 9.80% to close at ₦2.21, down from its prior close of ₦2.45.
CWG and Champion Breweries also featured among the day’s underperformers, experiencing share price reductions of 9.50% and 7.38%, respectively.
In terms of volume activity, CUSTODIAN dominated trading with approximately 38 million shares changing hands through 97 separate transactions, generating a value of ₦752 million.
Fidelity Bank followed with strong trading interest, recording about 37 million units traded across 729 deals worth ₦676 million.
Zenith Bank also attracted significant investor attention, with roughly 27 million shares transacted in 768 deals, totalling ₦1.3 billion in value.
