A viral video has surfaced showing a large group of members from the Etsako West chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) vehemently rejecting the return of former Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, to the party.
The video captures a spirited protest where aggrieved members label Shaibu as a “serial betrayer” and voice their distrust in his loyalty and political integrity.
The protesters, holding placards with various inscriptions such as “Philip Shaibu, we don’t want you in APC,” “APC not home of political prostitutes,” “We don’t want crisis in APC,” and “You have no political value, Shaibu,” expressed their unanimous disapproval.
Chants of “All we are saying, we don’t want Philip” also echoed through the gathering.
Political watchers say the demonstration highlights the deep-seated resentment and mistrust within the party towards Shaibu, who has had a history of switching political allegiances.
The former deputy governor’s political journey has been marked by several party changes, which many APC members perceive as opportunistic and indicative of a lack of steadfast commitment to any political ideology.
This perception has fueled the strong opposition to his comeback to the APC by many party members.
”The protest also signals a broader message within the party ranks, stressing the importance of loyalty and consistency in political affiliations.
”It remains to be seen how the APC leadership will address these grievances and manage the internal discord spurred by Shaibu’s return.
”For now, the clear message from the Etsako West chapter is that Philip Shaibu is not welcome back in the APC,” political commentator, Adams Okutepa stated.
