Veteran manager David Moyes has admitted that his current Everton job could mark the final chapter of his managerial career, hinting at retirement after over two decades on the touchline.

Moyes, told PLZ Soccer in a recent interview that while he remains passionate about football, he is beginning to consider the long-term future beyond management.

“I would probably say yes (Everton is my last job), but you never know how football goes. I actually thought West Ham was my last job, and also because I won a trophy, but I tell you what, I got a bug for maybe doing it again.

“The thought that I could maybe put another medal around my dad’s neck would be something special, so I’ve got to keep believing that’s a chance and hopefully somewhere down the line that will come around.”

Before he was reappointed in January 2025, Moyes had spent 11 years at Everton between 2002 and 2013, earning widespread respect for stabilizing the club and guiding it into European competition.

David Moyes began his managerial journey at Preston North End in 1998, guiding them from Division Two to the Championship and earning a reputation as one of Britain’s most promising young managers. His disciplined, work-ethic-driven style caught the attention of Premier League clubs.
