The ongoing speculation about Norway international and Manchester City striker Erling Haaland potentially moving to Barcelona has been dismissed, with sources familiar with the situation stating that no negotiations have been held between the Spanish club and the player or his agent, according to newsng reports.

In an interview with El Chiringuito de Jugones, a source, commenting on the rumours, stated that there had been no official communication regarding a possible transfer of Haaland from City to Barcelona.

“We have a lot of respect and admiration for Barcelona, but there hasn’t been any contact whatsoever — with Erling Haaland or with Barcelona’s management, regarding potential transfer targets,” the source, quoting Haaland’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta.

This comes following growing speculation in Europe that the 25-year-old is being linked with a future transfer from City, where he has proven himself to be one of the most prolific strikers in the Premier League.

The source stressed that Haaland is very much satisfied with his stay at the Etihad.

Disclosing more information about the situation, journalist Marcos Benito said Haaland’s recent contract extension with City establishes his commitment to the club.

“Also, because the player renewed his contract a few months ago, he’s very happy at Manchester City,” the source stated.

“Everything is going very well for him, and we really have nothing to discuss about a transfer when everything is so good at City,” the source added.
