Fans were shocked when a popular Haitian musician, Michael Benjamin, popularly known as Mikaben, collapsed and died during a concert in Paris, France.
Video of the incident, shared across social media, showed the singer exiting the stage before he collapsed.
Shortly after he fell, people on stage rushed to help the musician. Medics were later called to revive the singer, but he passed on.
The sudden death of the singer has generated reactions from music lovers globally.
Haiti-born rapper, Wyclef Jean, of the hip-hop group the Fugees, shared a video on Twitter where he described the late singer as one of the most talented men he has met.
He twitted: “Rest In Peace King @mikabenGone too soon #haiti.”
Similarly, Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry expressed shock over the death of Mikaben
“I´m shocked by the sudden death of the young and very talented artist Michael Benjamin ´Mikaben,” he wrote on Twitter.
“We have lost a major figure in Haitian music.
A tweep, Jennifer Arcuri, said: “I’m old enough to remember a time when singers didn’t randomly drop dead on stage.”
The cause of the musician’s death has not been ascertained, but unverified reports claim his death might be connected to a heart attack.
