Portuguese giants FC Porto have submitted a formal bid to English Premier League (EPL) club Arsenal for Polish defender Jakub Kiwior, according to reports from England.

The 24-year-old centre-back, who joined the Gunners from Spezia in January 2023, has struggled for consistent playing time under Mikel Arteta, often used as a rotational option in defence. Porto, keen to strengthen their backline ahead of the new season, are understood to have identified Kiwior as a priority signing.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano in a post shared on his X page; ‘‘FC Porto official bid for Jakub Kiwior has just been received by Arsenal.”

‘‘Fee in excess of €25m package add-ons included on loan with obligation to buy.

“Kiwior has already said yes to Porto; #AFC in talks over details of the bid.” He added.

While details of the bid have not been disclosed, sources suggest Arsenal are open to negotiations if a suitable offer is made. The North London club values Kiwior highly but may allow him to leave in search of regular first-team football, particularly with strong competition for places from Gabriel Magalhães, William Saliba, Ben White, and Jurrien Timber.

Kiwior, who has 21 caps for Poland, has been praised for his composure on the ball and tactical awareness, qualities Porto believes will add depth and stability to their defensive unit.
