The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Police Affairs, Mr. James Sule, has officially inaugurated a Delivery Task Team to improve the monitoring and implementation of Presidential Priorities and Ministerial Deliverables.
The initiative, launched at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Abuja, is designed to ensure effective performance management and data collection across various departments and agencies.
The newly established Ministerial Delivery Task Team comprises representatives from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF), the Ministry, and the Police Academy.
Their primary function is to gather and analyze data on Ministerial Deliverables and submit these insights to the Central Delivery Coordination Unit (CDCU).
The approach is intended to enhance the overall capacity of Desk Officers and improve service delivery.
In his address, Mr Sule emphasized the significance of the Ministerial Mandate as a critical element of the government’s policy framework.
He highlighted its role in showcasing the performance of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu‘s Eight Priority Areas.
He said the priorities focus on advancing governance and improving the lives of Nigerians through collective efforts and compassion.
“The Ministerial Mandate is designed to contribute to good governance, aiming to enhance the quality of life for citizens and set Nigeria on a path to prosperity,” Mr Sule explained.
He stressed the importance of this initiative in institutionalizing the Federal Government’s delivery system and tracking the progress of internal security operations.
Furthermore, Mr. Sule directed all Departments and Agencies to submit their quarterly reports to the Planning, Research, and Statistics Department, and to provide comprehensive updates to the CDCU.
According to him, this ensures that progress is regularly monitored and any emerging gaps are addressed promptly.
Mr. Esege E. Esege, Coordinator of the Central Delivery Coordination Unit, elaborated on the CDCU’s role.
He said the Unit is responsible for coordinating the identification of Presidential Priorities, setting targets, and ensuring that resources are effectively allocated to meet these priorities.
He added that the CDCU works with citizen-based organizations and development partners to provide validated quarterly reports to the President, tracking the implementation of policies, programs, and projects.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government has reinforced its unwavering commitment to the Sustainable Procurement, Environmental, and Social Standards Enhancement (SPEESE) Project, a key initiative to bolster Nigeria’s skilled workforce and advance socio-economic development nationwide.
During a meeting in Abuja with Mr. Ishtiak Siddique, the World Bank‘s SPEESE Task Team Leader, Ambassador Gabriel Aduda, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, highlighted the critical steps being taken to ensure the project’s success.
He noted the establishment of a technical working group within the Ministry, comprised of experts from various professional fields under the Social Standard Node.
