In efforts to relieve the hardship caused by the removal of fuel subsidies, the federal government has decided to introduce the utility of compressed Natural gas [CNG] tricycles to ease transportation costs, in addition to that the FG also said it has created about 10,000 tricycle stations in the country.
The National Orientation Council [NOA] alongside SIMBA Companies Ltd revealed the plan to inaugurate the tricycles in Abuja on Friday, the FG’s decision is due to the low fuel consumption of the tricycles, thereby limiting transport cost.
The Federal Government also stated that the provision of the tricycles was to cushion the hardship faced by those, especially in the rural areas as stated in the presidential hope agenda.
The federal government also added that about 10,000 tricycle stations have been created across the country to enable Nigerians to have access to it and to alleviate transport costs and other negative effects caused by the fuel subsidy removal.
The Director of the National Orientation Agency Issa Onilu said that the government is looking for ways to reduce heavy dependence on petroleum products. The tricycles are said to have been modified to use both Gas and petrol as powering fuels.
Wandel International Group of companies also explained that the CNG-powered automobiles were the best to utilize as it is environmentally friendly and can adapt to both cities and villages.
