The Federal Government of Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the education and skills development of Nigerian children by establishing 24 skills and innovation hubs and entrepreneurship centres across the country.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu made this announcement on Monday during the celebration of Children’s Day in Abuja, themed “Enhancing the Total Wellbeing of the Nigerian Child through Quality Education and Skills Development.”
Represented by the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, President Tinubu emphasized his administration’s dedication to creating a conducive learning environment and ensuring the comprehensive development of Nigerian children.
“Our administration has embarked on transformative policies aimed at providing a conducive learning environment across the country.
“The Federal Government is committed to establishing 24 skills and innovation hubs and entrepreneurship centres nationwide,” Tinubu stated.
In addition to these hubs, the government plans to inaugurate private sector Innovation Enterprise Centers to support its skills acquisition program.
Furthermore, 91 vocational centres are being constructed in secondary schools to integrate vocational training into the education system.
“We are working with State Commissioners of Women Affairs, State Ministries of Education, State Universal Basic Education Boards, and Civil Society Organizations to ensure quality education and skills development for Nigerian children,” Tinubu added.
Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, assured the children of the government’s dedication to protecting their rights.
“When it comes to fighting for your rights, I shall always be there for you because Mr. President said the poor shall breathe, and children are among the vulnerable,” she affirmed.
On her part, Mrs Adedayo Benjamin-Laniyi, Mandate Secretary of the Women Affairs Secretariat for the FCT Administration, noted that under the leadership of Nyesom Wike, efforts are being intensified to ensure every child in the FCT has access to quality education and skills development opportunities.
Meanwhile, former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege has lauded President Bola Tinubu for his proactive approach to tackling Nigeria’s challenges.
Speaking to reporters in Effurun, Delta State, Omo-Agege expressed confidence in Tinubu’s ability to navigate the country out of its current economic situation.
Asserting that Tinubu has effectively addressed a significant portion of Nigeria’s challenges, Omo-Agege urged Nigerians to continue supporting the President.
