Nigerian business tycoon Femi Otedola has announced the upcoming release of his memoir titled “Making it Big,” scheduled to launch on August 18.

The announcement was made through a post on his official X account, monitored by news.ng on Thursday.

Otedola described the book as a personal account of the challenges, victories, and philosophies that defined his rise.

“The lessons, setbacks, and triumphs that shaped my path are almost ready for you. In these pages, I’ve shared the key principles – the moments of doubt, the breakthroughs, and the wisdom that guided me through it all,” he said.

He added: “I look forward to opening this conversation with entrepreneurs and visionaries across the world, and to seeing how these experiences might inspire your journey forward.”

Otedola’s journey began at a young age with a small nail-care business called FEMCO, which he ran at six years old. This entrepreneurial instinct laid the groundwork for future ventures in commodity trading and oil and gas.

He founded Zenon Petroleum and Gas in 2003, which grew into a major force in Nigeria’s diesel distribution market. Zenon eventually took over African Petroleum, later rebranded as Forte Oil.

Otedola’s influence extended into the power sector through Geregu Power Plc, where he led the company to become the first publicly listed power firm in Nigeria. Under his watch, Geregu’s net profit in Q2 2025 reached N13 billion, marking a 61% increase year-on-year.

His bold foray into banking culminated in his appointment as Chairman of FirstHoldCo in January 2024. That same year, the group recorded a pre-tax profit of N781.88 billion and an after-tax profit of N663 billion—a 125% year-on-year surge.

His dynamic leadership has earned him accolades, including “Activist Investor and Market Maker of the Year” at the Nairametrics Capital Market Awards.
