The Federal Government has disbursed N5.12 billion in pension arrears to 90,689 retirees under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS), administered by the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD).
This was disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja by Mr. Olugbenga Ajayi, PTAD’s Head of Corporate Communications, who confirmed that payments have been completed across the four pension departments.
The Nigeria Customs Service, Immigration Service, and Prisons Pension Department (CIPPD) had 8,626 beneficiaries receiving a combined N276.032 million for one month of arrears. The Police Pension Department (PPD) catered to 9,681 retirees, disbursing N619.584 million for two months’ arrears.
In the Civil Service Pension Department (CSPD), 12,773 pensioners received N408.736 million for one month, while 59,609 retirees from the Parastatals Pension Department (PAPD) were paid N3.814 billion for two months of arrears.
Ajayi stressed that the payments demonstrate the government’s commitment to upholding the welfare of pensioners, in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
