The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, has emphasized the crucial role of ongoing macroeconomic reforms in shaping the nation’s economic future.

Speaking at the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) Conference held in Abuja, Edun reflected on 25 years of democracy in Nigeria and reiterated the need for continuous progress in governance and the expansion of economic opportunities.

He highlighted recent initiatives, including the introduction of the first US dollar domestic bond, which is aimed at attracting Nigerian savings from abroad and boosting domestic economic growth.

While acknowledging the challenges faced in the agricultural sector, Edun reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing food inflation and enhancing food security.

He emphasized the importance of consistent strategic planning and the need to learn from successful international models to strengthen Nigeria’s economic landscape.

The Minister commended NESG for their pivotal role in facilitating crucial economic discussions and reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu‘s unwavering commitment to advancing comprehensive economic reforms.

”With this renewed focus, Nigeria’s economic reform agenda has gained significant momentum, and the government’s efforts to attract foreign investment, curb food inflation, and improve food security are expected to yield positive results.

”As NESG continues to play a vital role in these discussions, Nigeria can look forward to a brighter economic future, driven by strategic planning, international best practices, and the Tinubu Administration’s dedication to comprehensive economic reforms,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Tayo Aduloju, the CEO of the NESG, has reiterated the potential of the Lagos Free Zone (LFZ) to enhance Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) if effectively leveraged.

Aduloju made this assertion during a recent visit to the LFZ alongside a delegation from NESG and the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council, led by Rosie Glazebrook.
He said as Nigeria’s first private special economic zone, the LFZ presents a unique opportunity for trade facilitation and economic competitiveness, particularly in light of the impending implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area.
