The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has hailed the progress made by large companies in integrating into the National e-Invoicing and Electronic Fiscal System (EFS), which officially commenced on August 1, 2025.
In a statement released Thursday on X, the tax authority noted that a substantial number of major corporate taxpayers have now completed system integration and begun transmitting electronic invoices to the Service ahead of the extended compliance deadline of November 1, 2025.
FIRS Executive Chairman, Zacch Adedeji, expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation so far, stating that the rollout is gaining traction across sectors.
“The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) notes the steady progress recorded since the commencement of the National e-Invoicing and Electronic Fiscal System (EFS) on 1st August 2025. A significant number of Large Taxpayers have successfully completed their system integrations and commenced live transmission of e-invoices to the Service in compliance with the extended deadline of 1st November 2025,” he said.
According to Adedeji, several companies that have not yet completed their integration are already nearing the final stages, while electronic invoicing service providers are also working closely with multiple organisations to speed up full compliance.
“Many others are currently at advanced stages of integration, while service providers have reported numerous ongoing engagements with taxpayers to facilitate full integration and transmission of invoices,” he noted.
He commended both taxpayers and solution providers for their commitment to the success of the initiative, which is expected to enhance transparency, block leakages, and improve revenue assurance.
“The Service commends the cooperation and commitment demonstrated by Large Taxpayers and service providers alike towards the successful rollout of the e-Invoicing regime,” he added.
However, Adedeji issued a strong reminder to organisations that are yet to conclude the process, stressing that compliance is mandatory under existing tax laws.
“In light of the progress made so far, and as a follow-up to our previous communications, all Large Taxpayers who are yet to complete integration are hereby strongly urged to comply with the e-invoice mandate without further delay, in line with the provisions of the tax laws,” he stated.
The FIRS Chairman reaffirmed the agency’s readiness to continue supporting taxpayers through various engagement and capacity-building programs to ensure smooth adaptation to the new system.
“The FIRS remains committed to supporting taxpayers through continuous stakeholder engagements, technical assistance, and training to ensure a seamless integration experience,” he said.
