The first female speaker of the Ondo state House of Assembly Jumoke Akindele has given birth to her first child at the age of 54.
She led the Ondo state House of Assembly in May 2014 and March 2017 as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), representing Okitipupa Constituency 1.
Akindele’s political friends and associates broke the news on social media that she delivered a baby girl and she has been receiving congratulatory messages ever since.

One of the posts on Facebook through one of her associates Segun Odidi read: “What God cannot do doesn’t exist. First Female Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly delivered a bouncing baby yesterday (Saturday).
“Her first fruit!! What a cheering news! i’m so happy for you big sis. Congratulations Rt. Hon Jumoke Akindele.”
In the other news, Oluremi Tinubu, wife of the presidential flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged Nigerians to accept the Muslim-Muslim candidates fielded by the party.
The APC have come under huge criticism after Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu chose former Governor of Borno state Kashim Shettima as his running mate.
However, Oluremi believes the party’s same-faith candidacy would bring the change Nigerians have been craving as the Muslim-Christian ticket has failed over time.
