Former Nigerian President Goodluck E. Jonathan announced on his official X account (@GEJonathan) that he has arrived in Monrovia, Liberia, with a West African Elders Forum (TheWAEF) delegation.
The visit is in preparation for the presidential runoff election scheduled to take place on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.
In his tweet, President Jonathan extended his best wishes to the people of Liberia, expressing his hopes for a peaceful and successful election.
The group said in a statement: ”As a West African Elders Forum representative, President Jonathan will be among the international observers monitoring the electoral process to ensure its fairness and transparency.
”President Jonathan, known for his commitment to promoting democracy and peace in the West African region, continues to play a significant role in international efforts to support free and fair elections.
”His presence in Monrovia underscores the importance of international cooperation and monitoring in fostering democratic processes across the continent.”
The West African Elders Forum is an organization that brings together eminent personalities from the West African sub-region to provide guidance and support for political stability, economic development, and peace within the region.
