Mrs Esther Ebiwonjumi, a former woman leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, has officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the November 16 governorship election.

In her announcement, Mrs. Ebiwonjumi, speaking on behalf of other defectors, expressed their admiration for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s leadership and pledged their support for his re-election campaign.

Mrs Ebiwonjumi highlighted their commitment to mobilizing support across the council areas to ensure Governor Aiyedatiwa’s success in the forthcoming election.

In response to the defection, Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized that effective governance requires collective efforts.

Speaking during a stakeholders’ engagement at Zion Gospellers’ Church in Oke Igbala, Ayeka Igbodigo, Okitipupa, the governor urged both long-standing and new APC members to unite and work together towards retaining power in the state.

“The APC is one big family, and your integration is crucial to our success. Let us all prioritize the success of our party and work together for a better future,” Governor Aiyedatiwa stated.

Addressing concerns raised at the event, including issues related to infrastructure, electricity, and employment, Governor Aiyedatiwa promised to address these challenges earnestly and work towards their resolution.

Dr. Joshua Orogbemi Akintan, founder of Zion Gospellers’ Church and a representative of the Council of Primates in Okitipupa LGA, expressed gratitude to the governor for his attention to grassroots issues and assured the community’s full support for his administration.

Additionally, the Odatiwa Women Initiative, led by Mrs. Seun Osamaye, Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Affairs, distributed aprons and food items to women in the area.

Earlier, Governor Aiyedatiwa had held a stakeholder meeting with APC members in Ilaje Local Government Area at Igbokoda.

At the meeting, he reiterated his commitment to engaging with all facets of the state’s political landscape as the election approaches.

Meanwhile, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye, the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for the upcoming Ondo State election, has unveiled an ambitious blueprint to drive substantial positive change in the state.

Speaking in Akure, the state capital, Akingboye outlined his comprehensive plan, which focuses on three key areas: economic development, enhanced security, and infrastructure revitalization.
Drawing from his extensive experience in managing conglomerates across Africa and beyond, Akingboye said his strategy is to address pressing issues such as food shortages, high cost of living, and security concerns.
