Former Super Eagles striker and football icon Jonathan Akpoborie, renowned for his contributions to the beautiful game, is now making waves in humanitarianism.

In his latest act of kindness, Akpoborie is set to bring a team of foreign doctors to Nigeria to perform free surgeries at Ajegunle General Hospital in Lagos starting from October 1, 2023.

This initiative follows a similar effort in Delta State last year.

Akpoborie, celebrated for his football career, including stints at German club Wolfsburg and several appearances for the Nigerian national team, has transitioned into a dedicated philanthropist.

The scheduled arrival of a team of foreign doctors to perform free surgeries at Ajegunle General Hospital marks a significant step in Akpoborie’s ongoing mission to provide medical assistance to underserved communities in Nigeria.

The surgeries will address various medical conditions, aiming to alleviate the suffering of patients without access to such specialised care.

This effort in Lagos follows a successful campaign in Delta State last year, where Akpoborie organised a similar initiative that received widespread praise for its positive impact on local communities.

Ajegunle General Hospital in Lagos has been selected as the venue for this life-changing initiative.

Speaking on the initiative, Akpoborie said he focuses on reaching communities with challenges to access adequate medical care.
