Elon Musk, the current CEO of Twitter, has been sued by four former executives, including current CEO Parag Agarwal, for $128 million in unpaid severance payments.
The Lawsuit is contained in a 38-page complaint filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of California seen by News.ng on Tuesday.
Along with Agarwal, former Twitter Chief Financial Officer Ned Segal, former Twitter Head of Legal, Policy Vijaya Gadde and former Twitter General Counsel Sean Edgett are among the other employees who have filed the lawsuit.
They claim that Musk harbours “special ire” for these former executives because they exerted a great deal of effort to keep Musk accountable for his $44 billion pledge when he attempted to back out.
The case, which was submitted to a federal court in northern California, claims that Musk’s desire to recover money from the $44 billion Twitter transaction caused him to refuse to provide the fired executives the severance payments that were agreed upon.
One of Musk’s first actions as the company’s owner after purchasing Twitter (now X) was to fire Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, and attorneys Sean Edgett and Vijaya Gadde.
“Under Musk’s control, Twitter has become a scofflaw, stiffing employees, landlords, vendors, and others.
“Musk doesn’t pay his bills, believes the rules don’t apply to him, and uses his wealth and power to run roughshod over anyone who disagrees with him,” the complaint read.
According to multiple sources, Agarwal, Gadde, and other ex-employees had already sued Twitter (now X) and won a judgment from a Delaware court ordering Twitter to reimburse Agarwal and Gadde for $1.1 million in legal bills they had incurred while employed by the social media giant.
Not only these executives have not received their severance money, but there are still former Twitter employees who are also awaiting payment and have filed other lawsuits against Musk.
More lawsuits and evictions have resulted from the company’s refusal to pay rent on some of its premises while it is owned by Musk.
