The French Development Agency (AFD) has embarked on a collaborative effort with Nigeria through the I-DICE Program, aiming to advance digital innovation and bolster employment prospects in the country.

Experts say the partnership represents a significant step in the pursuit of fostering economic growth through technology-driven initiatives.

The I-DICE Program, supported by AFD, sets ambitious targets to benefit Nigeria’s youth and economy. The core objectives of the initiative are to provide training for a staggering 2 million young Nigerians while concurrently facilitating the launch of over 65,000 startup ventures.

The overarching goal is to create more than 150,000 jobs and indirectly contribute to generating 1.3 million additional employment opportunities.

The Nigerian government said in a statement:

”This program marks a pivotal strategy to utilise digital innovation as a catalyst for socioeconomic progress in Nigeria. By empowering and engaging many young individuals in digital training and entrepreneurship, the initiative endeavours to not only equip them with essential skills but also instigate a significant impact on job creation and economic vitality.

”The collaboration between the AFD and Nigeria’s I-DICE Program underscores a joint commitment to leverage technological advancements and entrepreneurial ventures, signifying a concerted effort to stimulate the country’s economic landscape.

”This endeavour seeks to not only empower the younger generation but also contribute significantly to the growth and sustainability of Nigeria’s economy in the digital age.

”The support and endorsement by the French Development Agency signify an acknowledgement of the potential impact of digital innovation in addressing unemployment and fostering economic growth in Nigeria.

”The I-DICE Program’s ambition to train a massive number of youth, foster entrepreneurial endeavours, and create extensive employment opportunities underscores a promising step toward leveraging digital advancements for the collective progress of Nigeria’s economic landscape.”
