Galatasaray will be without star striker Victor Osimhen when they face Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League encounter, as the Nigerian forward continues his recovery from a hamstring injury.
Osimhen picked up the injury during Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against DR Congo last Sunday and was substituted at halftime. He returned to Istanbul immediately for assessment and treatment.
Medical checks later confirmed a minor hamstring tear—an injury expected to keep him out only briefly. Despite the setback, the Super Eagles striker was spotted in the stands supporting his teammates, and he was also seen leaving the stadium alongside fellow Nigerian Henry Onyekuru.
The 25-year-old missed Galatasaray’s opening Champions League fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt but featured in the subsequent three games, delivering outstanding performances. Osimhen currently sits atop the Champions League scoring charts with six goals, underlining his importance to Okan Buruk’s side.
His fitness will be reassessed on Friday, and the club hopes to have him available for their next league fixture as well as the remaining Champions League matches. Tonight’s showdown against Royale Union SG will be the second game Osimhen misses in this season’s competition.
