The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) has attributed the poor electricity supply in Anambra and other Southeast states to gas shortages.
In a statement by the Head of Corporate Communications, Mr Emeka Ezeh, the company highlighted that the gas constraints affect thermal generating companies, leading to low power generation and reducing the daily megawatt hour (MWH) of energy allocated to distribution companies nationwide.
EEDC emphasized that the situation is beyond its control and that it can only distribute what is provided by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), which is currently constrained due to low power generation.
”The TCN has implemented System Load-shedding to prevent a possible system collapse,” Ezeh stated.
The company sought the understanding of its customers, assuring them that the situation would be addressed soon to restore normal distribution.
EEDC also expressed commitment to providing improved services once the challenges are resolved.
The southeast region has been experiencing frequent power outages in the past few weeks, prompting residents’ concerns.
