Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, founders of the Gemini crypto exchange, have donated 188 BTC, valued at about $21 million, to the Digital Freedom Fund PAC, a political group backing President Trump’s pro-crypto agenda.

The PAC plans to support crypto-friendly candidates, advance a Bitcoin & Crypto Bill of Rights, and oppose central bank digital currencies (CBDCs). In a post on X, the twins wrote, “Our goal is to support President Trump and his Administration’s efforts to continue to usher in America’s Golden Age.”

The Bitcoin & Crypto Bill of Rights seeks to guarantee individuals’ rights to own and use crypto, while reducing redundant regulation that slows down innovation. Tyler Winklevoss noted that builders “don’t need more paperwork—they need protection and fair treatment.”

The PAC also aims to promote a lean “Skinny Market Structure Bill” to limit government overreach, push back against CBDCs, safeguard open banking and fair access to financial services, and likewise advance projects like Project Crypto, modelled on SEC and CFTC efforts to strengthen U.S. leadership in digital finance.

This isn’t the twins’ first major political contribution. They previously gave $2 million in Bitcoin to Trump’s 2024 campaign, though federal limits forced refunds of donations over $844,600 per person. They also donated roughly $3.5 million in Bitcoin to MAGA Inc. Super PACs and other initiatives.

While Super PACs cannot contribute directly to candidates, they remain highly influential. With this new $21 million donation, the Winklevoss twins are reinforcing their role in shaping the future of crypto policy—and strengthening the presence of Bitcoin in U.S. politics.
