German goalkeeping legend Manuel Neuer has officially ruled out any possibility of returning to the Germany national team, ending speculation about a potential comeback ahead of upcoming international fixtures.
The 38-year-old Bayern Munich star, widely regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers of his generation, has been a cornerstone of German football for over a decade, earning more than 100 caps and famously leading the team from the back as they lifted the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Despite calls from some quarters for his return to shore up the squad, Neuer, who stepped away from international duty after Euro 2024, made it clear that his international career is over.
Neuer told the German publication Bild that his decision to leave the senior national team was final while he was at the Bavarian State Chancellery in Munich.

“I had a very successful and enjoyable time, and I’m not currently thinking at all about whether and how I could return. I have been with the team since 2009, and with the European Championship, it was a nice conclusion. I think I got a lot out of German football and maybe also gave German football a little something.”
