Ángel Torres, the president of top-flight Spanish La Liga club Getafe, has stated that English Premier League club Wolves are almost done signing Nigerian midfielder Uche Chrisantus.

In a Monday interview with Spanish media, Torres stated that talks are nearing their conclusion and that the 22-year-old should sign a contract with Wolves in the next few days.

After scoring a goal and providing an assist in a 2-1 victory over Celta Vigo on the first day of the season, Chrisantus featured for the entirety of yesterday’s La Liga victory over Sevilla, putting up another outstanding performance.

But yesterday’s match will be his final one wearing Getafe’s colours, as a contract with Wolves has already been reached for his transfer. The president stated that La Liga is the only reason he sells the 22-year-old.

“We have to sell. We are ruining La Liga by continuously selling,” Torres said.

“I am forced to sell him; I have no other choice. Tomorrow he undergoes the medical, and the deal is signed with Wolves,” the club president added.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly made a €20 million proposal to Getafe for the player.

Uche, a midfielder for the Super Eagles, has made an impression since moving to Getafe in 2024. According to some, he is a versatile player who can play forward or midfield. In May 2025, he also made his senior debut for the Nigerian team.
