Former Chelsea defender Glenn Johnson has called out the management of the club over its failure to sign Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen from Serie A side, Napoli FC.
Johnson lashed out at Chelsea over its failure to do the needful stressing that the lethal forward was the obvious candidate to lead the team’s attack but they failed to sign him.
He also noted that Chelsea spent loads of cash signing youngsters who may not be in the team straight away but failed to capture the signing of Osimhen who would have scored goals for the team.
“The obvious one would be Victor Osimhen. He was the big name they wanted and didn’t get” Johnson told Betfred.

“They’ve signed loads of youngsters that may not be in the team straight away, despite spending a lot of money on them, and I think Osimhen is the big signing that they’ve missed out on.”
This comes days after former Super Eagles midfielder John Obi-Mikel explained why Osimhen’s proposed move from Napoli to Chelsea failed.
Mikel who opened up in a recent episode of The Obi One Podcast stated that Osimhen’s move from Napoli to Chelsea failed because the club and the player could not finalise details of the move before the close of the transfer window.
The ex-international also noted that there is still potential for the deal to be done in January because Chelsea has an ambition to improve the fortunes of the club and the player is interested in the project.
