Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, has been appointed as Chairman of the 12th Zik Annual Lecture Series, a prestigious event scheduled to take place on November 16, 2023, at the ASUU Secretariat, UNIZIK, in Awka, Anambra State.

The Zik Lecture Series is an annual commemoration of the legacy of one of Nigeria’s eminent leaders, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, a distinguished nationalist, Governor General, Prime Minister, and political activist.

Under the theme “RECLAIMING ZIK’S WORLD: CLIMATE JUSTICE AND AFRICA’S SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT,” this year’s lecture series aims to delve into the vital discourse surrounding climate justice and the imperative for sustainable development across Africa.

The distinguished event will witness the participation of notable figures, including the former President of Malawi, Dr. Joyce Hilde Bonde, and the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo.

Other prominent participants include the Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Dr. Alex Oti, former Governor of Anambra State and Labour Party Presidential Candidate in the February 25 Election, Mr. Peter Obi, among several other eminent personalities.

The Zik Lecture Series holds a significant place as one of the most prominent annual gatherings in Nigeria, honouring the revered Zik of Africa, the country’s first Indigenous President and a distinguished Pan-Africanist statesman.

The event serves as a platform to celebrate the remarkable life and enduring legacy of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe while fostering critical discussions on pressing socio-political and environmental issues.
