Dr Abdullahi stated, “Today’s event marks a significant milestone in our journey towards transitioning from fossil-based energy resources to renewable energy.
“Addressing the energy manpower gap is crucial for making substantial progress in this sector. This foresight has led to the establishment of a college/academy dedicated to renewable energy studies.”
He further highlighted the importance of the new academy as a beacon of knowledge and empowerment, aimed at bridging the energy manpower gap and driving innovation in the renewable energy sector.
“The Barefoot Renewable Energy Academy aims to harness the power of renewable energy and empower communities through education and training,” he added.
On his part, Nnaji praised Dr. Abdullahi’s leadership in pioneering Nigeria’s first Renewable Energy College.
In his opening remarks, Nnaji affirmed the college’s significance in the nation’s sustainable development journey.
“This college marks a significant moment in our national journey towards sustainable development and energy transition.
“Today, we are not just laying the foundation for a building; we are planting the seeds of innovation, sustainable progress, and a brighter future for our nation,” he remarked.
Nnaji also commended the initiative as a well-thought-out program aimed at building capacity in the energy field across Nigeria.
He emphasized that the college will provide state-of-the-art skills, technical knowledge, and academic certification needed to advance the renewable energy sector.
The establishment of BRE College is expected to be a game-changer in Nigeria’s energy landscape, preparing a new generation of professionals equipped to tackle the challenges of renewable energy and contribute to the nation’s sustainable future.
