Vice President Kamala Harris has rolled out a new initiative aimed at supporting Black men through cryptocurrency and other financial opportunities.

As part of her campaign, Harris has pledged to create a regulatory framework that will protect Black men and other participants in the digital asset market, ensuring they benefit from the growing crypto space.

The proposal, titled “Kamala Harris Will Deliver for Black Men,” highlights that more than 20% of Black Americans have invested in or currently own cryptocurrency.

Harris’s plan shows the potential for digital currencies to broaden access to banking services, especially for communities historically underserved by traditional financial systems.

Alongside her focus on crypto, Harris also promises to offer one million forgivable loans of up to $20,000 to Black entrepreneurs for health initiatives and aims to legalize recreational marijuana.

These moves are designed to boost economic empowerment in Black communities, particularly among Black men.

Although Harris has previously expressed support for technologies like artificial intelligence and blockchain, this proposal marks her most assertive stance on cryptocurrency.

By advocating for regulations that protect investors, Harris aims to foster trust and inclusivity in the rapidly evolving digital finance landscape.

However, not all advocates are fully on board. Cleve Mesidor, founder of the National Policy Network WOC Blockchain, raised concerns about the limited scope of the initiative, stating, “Focusing on Black men alone may narrow the broader conversation about inclusion in crypto.”

Despite this criticism, Harris’ proposal could prove pivotal in regaining support from Black male voters, especially as she faces competition from former President Donald Trump, who has also introduced his crypto project, World Liberty Financial.
