''He should not be left roaming the streets'' - Media personality calls for arrest of Asari Dokubo

Media personality, Naja’atu Mohammed, has called for the immediate arrest of Asari Dokubo, a former Niger Delta warlord.

Dokubo, 59, formerly Melford Dokubo Goodhead Jr, is a prominent political figure of the Ijaw ethnic group in the oil-rich region.

Mohammed made the call via her social media page in reaction to the recent comments of Dokubo indicting the Nigerian military of oil theft in the oil-rich Niger Delta region.

“The military is at the centre of oil theft, and we have to make this very clear to the Nigerian public that 99 per cent of oil theft can be traced to the Nigerian military, the Army and the Navy, especially,” Dokubo said while briefing State House correspondents recently.

Mohammed said the comment was unacceptable, even as she urged the security agencies to waste no time apprehending Dokubo.

Her words:

“Asari Dokubo has technically disarmed the Nigerian military, who should have by now had him in their custody for accusing the Army in areas of incompetence and oil theft.

“The Navy, in particular, should have obtained him for serious questioning until he lists all names. The Air Force should debunk his fake claims of protecting some parts of the country with his imaginary militia.

“The Nigerian police should hold him in their max-security felicities for possessing heavy firearms as a civilian. The DSS and alike should roll back their investigation to when Asari Dokubo was recruiting Mujahadeen gorillas in this country.

“Asari should not be left roaming free in a civil community that is run democratically.”

She also criticized President Bola Tinubu for giving an audience to Dokubo, noting that either he needs to be more knowledgeable about leadership or the Nigerian leader is encouraging the ex-Niger Delta warlord.

“One can easily conclude that Asari Dokubo took advantage of the fact the current commander in chief of the armed forces of this country has very little knowledge about the importance of military morale and spirit or how damning it would be for a president to associate himself with a civilian who carries firearms and brandishes them at will.

“It may also be that the govt is trying to convert a self-proclaimed warlord into a militia circus master, who in the future will be puppeteered into a politically armed boy-boy,” she said.
