Ayodele Fayose has stated he will not defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) despite supporting their presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu before the 2023 general elections.
The former Ekiti state governor who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) made the statement during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, March 21, 2023.
Fayose who was among the strongholds in the PDP that were in support of power coming to the South said in the interview:

“Many people in Nigeria have been confronted with what they have said at different times, and they either recant or say something new. I stand here to tell you that I will never be a member of the APC.
“I am not in politics for what it is anymore. I have been given a fair opportunity to lead Ekiti two times and defeated two incumbents.”
The Ekiti state politician advised members of his party to set aside their differences and work towards reclaiming power in the 2027 polls.
