The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has apologised to Ayra Starr for demanding the removal of her false eyelashes during data capturing.
The singer had complained in a Tweet about her embarrassing experience at the NIS office when she was told to remove her eyelash.
In response, the NIS via Twitter apologised for the compulsory removal of her lashes. The service stated that everyone who comes for data capturing at any passport office are required to portray a natural look.
The service stated:
“As it is a ground rule globally, when individuals, regardless of societal class, come for data capturing at any of our passport offices, they are usually always advised, informed and implored to present themselves as naturally as they most possibly can. The actual capturing takes less than 10mins; this is not so much time that cannot be sacrificed in getting the accurate biometrics of the individual.”
