The Imo State Commissioner for Tourism, Rev Jerry Egbule Egemba, has addressed concerns regarding the security situation in the state, assuring residents and visitors of a safe environment as the Christmas and New Year celebrations approach.
In a press release personally signed by Rev Egemba, he refuted claims of heightened insecurity, attributing such perceptions to individuals with ulterior motives aimed at undermining the state’s stability.
The commissioner urged Imo indigenes, tourists, business leaders, and holidaymakers to embrace the festive season in Imo State without apprehension.
He emphasized Governor Hope Uzodimma’s concerted efforts to restore peace and security within the region.
Rev Egemba highlighted collaborative efforts between his team and security agencies to ensure the safety of tourists and oversee activities across various parts of the state.
Specifically, he noted Commissioner of Police Aboki Danjuma’s comprehensive tours across Owerri, Orlu, and Okigwe zones, aimed at bolstering confidence and ensuring maximum security.
Citing recent successful events such as the Assemblies of God Church’s open-air crusade and a medical-religious program in Umunachi Obowo, the commissioner underscored the absence of security issues during these gatherings.
Rev Egemba emphasized that these peaceful occurrences in urban and rural areas demonstrate Imo’s readiness to host visitors during the festive season.
He extended a reassuring message to those in the diaspora and potential tourists, encouraging them to participate in the Christmas and New Year celebrations without any apprehension about security concerns
