Following the interest it has generated, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mr Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, (SAN) is advocating for a live telecast of the presidential tribunal proceedings.
According to him, this will be in the interest of openness, justice, transparency and trust in the judiciary.
Recall that Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) are challenging the results of the 2023 Presidential Election which produced Bola Ahmed Tinubu as president-elect.
He added that Section 36 (1) and (3) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria provides that judicial proceedings should be conducted in public.
Providing public access to the proceedings would meet the aspirations of the public to participate in the process.
