A recent poll reveals that a majority of U.S. voters are leaning toward candidates who support cryptocurrency.

According to Craig Salm, Chief Legal Officer at Grayscale, over half of American voters are more likely to back a pro-crypto candidate in upcoming elections.

Grayscale partnered with The Harris Poll to gauge public sentiment on the role of cryptocurrency in politics.

Salm shared the results during an interview, noting that two out of five Americans are paying more attention to candidates’ stances on Bitcoin and other crypto assets than in previous elections.

“This poll clearly shows that Americans do care whether a candidate is supportive of crypto,” Salm explained.

The 2024 U.S. presidential election brings this issue to the forefront.

Republican candidate Donald Trump has made headlines with his ambitious plan to turn the U.S. into the “crypto capital of the world,” while Democratic candidate Kamala Harris has been less vocal but has recently begun emphasizing the importance of blockchain technology in keeping the U.S. globally competitive.

Harris is seen as more crypto-friendly than her predecessor, President Joe Biden, but her stance is not as aggressive as Trump’s.

Voter concerns about inflation are playing a significant role in the growing interest in crypto-friendly policies.

According to the poll, 30% of respondents identified inflation as the most pressing issue in the U.S. Salm suggested that this concern is driving more people toward cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, which many see as a hedge against inflation.

“It’s no surprise that voters are increasingly interested in where candidates stand on crypto, given its potential as a store of value,” he said.

Salm also pointed out that the enthusiasm for crypto cuts across party lines, with Americans from all political backgrounds showing interest in candidates who support digital assets.

“Crypto is transcending party affiliation. People are realizing it’s a nonpartisan issue,” Salm remarked.
