AC Milan player Samuel Chukwueze may play no part in the forthcoming World Cup qualifying matches between the Super Eagles and South Africa, which will be followed by another game against Benin Republic next month.
The tricky winger was forced off in the second half and replaced by Rafael Leao after he picked up an injury during AC Milan’s Serie A match against Cagliari on Saturday.
The injury sustained by the 24-year-old was confirmed in a post shared on social media by Milan Posts, which revealed that Chukwueze suffered a muscle injury to his thigh.
‘‘Samuel Chukwueze suffered a first-degree injury to the biceps femoris muscle of the left thigh, and the development will be checked with a new MRI next week,’’ the media outlet wrote on X.

On June 7, the Eagles will play host to Bafana Bafana at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo. Four days later, they will fly to Ivory Coast to play the Benin Republic.
The player’s injury will be a source of worry for newly appointed coach George Finidi, whose first assignment will be to lead the Super Eagles to success in the two matches against South Africa and Benin Republic in Uyo and Abidjan, respectively.
The Super Eagles, who are now third in Group C of the African qualifiers, are behind South Africa and Rwanda. The team is now condemned to win both games.
