Abdul-Ganiyy Raji, National Da’Wah Officer of the Nasrul-lahi-li Fathi Society (NASFAT) worldwide, has said that members of the international terrorist organization Boko Haram are not Muslims; neither do they represent the interests of the Islamic faith, news.ng reports.
Abdul-Ganiyy Raji made this known during an interview on Channels Television on Wednesday.
While there have been claims that religious leaders, including the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, have not openly condemned the atrocities committed by Boko Haram insurgents, Abdul-Ganiyy Raji denied such claims, saying that the revered Islamic leader has, on several occasions, condemned the acts carried out by the terrorists.
He emphasized that members of the terrorist organization, who do not represent the interests of Islam, have also turned into bandits, causing mayhem in some communities, abducting innocent citizens, and demanding ransom for the release of their victims.
He said, “Even the Sultan of Sokoto has condemned them several times. Many Muslim leaders have condemned those people. People have come out to say these people are not Muslims.
“These people are not Muslims. And I’m going to say it right here, too, that they are not representing Islam. Okay, people saying they are representing Islam, today they have metamorphosed into bandits.”
The NASFAT National Da’Wah Officer, while backing his claims that the insurgents, who are now armed bandits, are non-Muslims and do not represent the interests of Islam, questioned what they do with the proceeds from the ransom.
“They are now kidnapping people, asking for money. So, are you now going to say that the money they are collecting, the ransom they are collecting, they are using it to sponsor people to Mecca, or they are using it to build mosques, or they are building schools for Muslims? Where are the schools that they have used the ransom they are collecting to build for Muslim children? Their children are out of school. We see many of them; you see them,” he queried.
