The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, on Friday, November 24, embarked on a significant visit to Kwara State, focusing on bolstering ties between the police force and the local community while emphasizing professionalism and community-oriented policing.
His itinerary commenced with a courtesy visit to the revered Emir of Kwara at his palace, where discussions centred on collaborative efforts to heighten safety and security in Kwara State.
The IGP highlighted the vital role of traditional leaders in maintaining peace and lauded the Emir’s support in achieving this objective.
Continuing his engagements, the IGP addressed officers and personnel at the Kwara State Police Command Headquarters.
He emphasized the core tenets of professionalism, ethical conduct, and the need for a people-centric approach to policing.
Stressing the importance of earning public trust, the IGP commended the officers’ dedication while urging a solid commitment to community engagement in combating crime.
During a meeting with the Executive Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, discussions revolved around collaborative strategies for ensuring the safety and security of the state’s residents.
The IGP lauded the governor’s continuous support for the Nigeria Police Force in upholding law and order within the state.
Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, the IGP assured the people of Kwara State of the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to collaborative efforts with local communities and government authorities.
He said the objective of the police remains to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
