Instagram is introducing a new feature to promote greater engagement: comments on Stories.
These comments are accessible to everyone who views the corresponding Story content.
According to a press release, Stories remarks can be useful for couples planning a “song launch.”
The relationship fad, in which new partners are introduced surreptitiously through Stories rather than formal Instagram posts, took off in the early 2020s.
The social media platform now allows followers to leave comments on one other’s Stories, making the experience more community-focused, similar to livestreaming where users can engage in broader debates.
Stories comments appear at the bottom of the window, above the function controls and viewer data, so they are not intrusive.
It might also add another option to get people talking about Stories updates, with prompts that double as comment highlights on the main screen.
As per the notification:
“You can now comment on Stories. Comments are visible to anyone who views the story”.
Instagram has been looking for new methods to persuade people to engage with the platform, as more and more people use private DMs for debate and sharing.
According to Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri, Instagram users now post more to stories and send more direct messages than they do to the main feed.
We earlier reported that Instagram is releasing a significant update for Reels that will let it compete more successfully with TikTok and enhance its short-form video offering: multitrack audio.
Newsng understands that users can include up to 20 tracks in a single Reel, according to the business.
