Inter Milan is monitoring a potential January transfer move for Fulham defender Calvin Bassey, with the Nigeria international attracting growing interest from Serie A clubs.
Bassey has emerged as a target for the Nerazzurri as they look to reinforce their defensive options during the winter transfer window. Inter are understood to be seeking a left-footed central defender while also exploring options to strengthen at right wing-back amid a demanding domestic and European schedule.
According to TEAMtalk, Inter Milan is among several Italian clubs closely tracking the 26-year-old’s situation, impressed by his performances in the Premier League and his international experience with Nigeria.
However, Fulham are reportedly unwilling to entertain a mid-season departure. Sources close to the club insist Bassey remains a key part of Marco Silva’s defensive setup and long-term plans.
“Fulham have no desire to sanction a January exit, viewing the former Rangers defender as central to their defensive structure,” TEAMtalk reported.
Inter’s interest is driven by their need for added depth as they balance a tight Serie A title race with Champions League commitments. The club is keen to bolster its squad to cope with fixture congestion in the second half of the season.
Despite the growing interest from Italy, any potential move for Bassey is likely to be difficult in January unless Fulham’s stance changes.
