Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the minister of interior, has visited the Norwegian Ambassador to Nigeria, Svein Baera, to explore possibilities for collaboration and support in advancing reforms to bolster Nigeria’s internal security and citizenship integrity.
During the visit, the minister stated that he is actively seeking partnerships to realize the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to him, the agenda prioritizes reforms focusing on enhancing Nigeria’s internal security framework.
In his interaction with the Norwegian Ambassador, Tunji-Ojo emphasized the importance of cooperation and support from international allies in fortifying the nation’s security architecture.
Discussions revolved around potential collaborations and support from Norway to aid Nigeria in achieving its security reform objectives.
”Tunji-Ojo’s visit is part of a broader initiative of the federal government, aiming to engage with foreign stakeholders in alignment with President Tinubu’s reform-driven agenda.
”The collaboration sought with Norway holds the potential to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s efforts in fortifying its internal security and citizenship integrity.
”This move highlights a proactive approach to seeking international cooperation in addressing critical national security concerns,” a statement from the interior ministry noted.
Diplomatic relations between Nigeria and Norway were established just after Nigeria’s Independence in 1960. In addition to Nigeria, the Norwegian Embassy in Abuja also covers Benin, Togo and Cameroon.
