Franklin Ekechukwu, a famous political strategist, has stated that there is nothing special about President Bola Tinubu emerging as the chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Ekechukwu said the role was reserved for Nigeria as it rotates around member states in the sub-region.

According to him, the publicity given to Tinubu’s emergence by his team indicates the desperation for validation by the presidency.

His words:

“The desperation of Tinubu’s team caused them to announce Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the new ECOWAS chairman without telling you that it was the turn of Nigeria as a country to lead ECOWAS.

“Tinubu’s team made it look as if Tinubu succeeding President Umaro Embalo of Guinea Bissau is a mandate Tinubu won by merit.

“Their desperation to legitimize Tinubu is so telling! Let the deceit continue. All eyes are on the Judiciary!!!”

Ekechukwu also reacted to a video circulating on social media of Tinubu addressing ECOWAS leaders after his election.

In the video, Tinubu called for an end to military coups in West Africa, noting that democracy is the best form of governance.

Ekechukwu said:

“I listened to this nonsense speech of Tinubu and can’t believe the audacity.

“Believe me, Tinubu does not have the credibility of democratic principles and processes; he has no clue that democracy,talk-less of upholding it.

“He is one person in that room that is a rogue, an illegitimate, illegal government who did not meet the legal requirements to be sworn in.”
