Swedish tactician Janne Anderson has confirmed that he is in talks with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to take over as the new Super Eagles coach.
Anderson who disclosed in a chat with the Swedish media said that he is excited to be linked with the Super Eagles job because Nigeria is a huge footballing nation.
The 61-year-old who has been out of job since last November noted that he is flattered to be in the running for the Super Eagles job as he is in dialogue with the NFF.
“I can confirm that I have had a dialogue with the Nigeria Football Federation,” he told new Swedish outlet Expressen.

“It’s a huge footballing nation so I’m extremely flattered to be in the running to be their next national team coach.
“Dialogue is ongoing and I don’t really want to say more than that.
“I have been in this industry for so long and know that things can happen in different ways. So we’ll see what happens in the future.” Anderson noted in the interview.
With seven years as Sweden’s manager, the 61-year-old Andersson has a wealth of international experience and helped the squad qualify for both the 2020 European Championship and the 2018 World Cup.
Nevertheless, his term came to an end when Sweden was not able to qualify for either the 2022 World Cup or the 2024 Euros. Notably, this would be his first position in Africa as a coach.
Finidi George stepped down as the coach of the Super Eagles following poor results in the 2026 World Cup qualifying games against South Africa and the Benin Republic.
