Jumia, Africa’s foremost online retail platform, has appointed Temidayo Ojo as its new CEO for Nigeria, marking a return to local leadership for its most strategic market.
Ojo succeeds Sunil Natraj, who previously held the role.
This leadership change comes nearly five years after the departure of Juliet Anammah, the company’s inaugural CEO in Nigeria. Anammah later transitioned to a global role within the company and currently leads CG&R Strategy LLC. Ojo’s elevation is seen as a strategic move that aligns with Jumia’s vision of strengthening its local identity.
Having joined Jumia in 2020, Ojo has held various key roles, including Head of Planning & Performance and Chief Commercial Officer in Ghana. Most recently, he served as CEO of Jumia Ghana, where he steered the company toward substantial commercial and operational progress.
Ojo holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Lagos and an MBA from Spain’s IESE Business School. His professional experience spans multiple African markets and includes exposure to global best practices.
Commenting on the appointment, Francis Dufay, CEO of Jumia Group, said: “Temidayo brings a powerful blend of analytical thinking, strategic execution, and customer-centric leadership. His success in Ghana gives us great confidence in his ability to lead Jumia Nigeria to new heights.”
This development is part of a larger corporate agenda to localize leadership, enhance customer experience, and improve supply chain efficiency. With Nigeria representing a crucial node in Jumia’s continental network, the company is banking on Ojo’s expertise to reinforce its competitive edge.
As competition in Africa’s digital commerce space heats up, Ojo’s appointment signals Jumia’s renewed commitment to innovation, customer loyalty, and sustainable business growth.
