Kaduna State Police Command announced the arrest of 10 suspected kidnappers between September and October 3, 2023, at a news conference in Kaduna on Saturday.
ASP Mansir Hassan expressed that the Command’s officers had recovered about 3 AK47 rifles, 3 fabricated, 10 rounds of revolvers, 448 cartridges of 7.62x39mm live ammunition, an extra cache of 15 cartridges of the same calibre, and a vehicle registered to an EbonyiHKW 578AA.
Hassan also said that the Command is fully aware of the security problems facing the state, with banditry, robbery, kidnappings and clashes among farmers and herdsmen inclusively.
He called for a strong Police and Public partnership in the ongoing fight against criminal elements, as it is everyone’s responsibility to ensure the security of the communities.
“However, tremendous efforts were put in to deal with the unfortunate circumstances that led to the current state of relative peace enjoyed by law-abiding citizens of the state,” he said.
“The calm security environment in the state can be attributed to the strategic and tactical use of human resources and material resources, as well as to the effective implementation of the security architecture.”
He added that the suspects were being held for further investigation and would be arraigned in court once the investigation was concluded.
On Saturday, Kaduna State Police Command posted pictures of arms and ammunition recovered from suspects. The statement read in part, “I want to commend the police officers and men in the command for their bravery and commitment to duty.”
He urged criminals to stay away from the state and reiterated the Police’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
