Key Performance Indicators Decline as Market Cap Stood at N123.9trn

Key performance indicators on Thursday on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) were in the red territory, as trading volume, turnover, and deals declined, news.ng reports.

As shown in the market data, a total of 898,430,639 shares valued at N38,444,217,200.42 changed hands in 61,889 deals, which was significantly different from yesterday’s session.

Transaction volume nose-dived by 76%, while deals dropped by 10%, indicating reduced investor activity.

However, market capitalisation remained steady at N123.9 trillion.

Out of the 133 listed equities, 52 recorded gains while 26 declined.

Okomu Oil Palm Plc led the gainers’ chart with a 10% increase to close at N1,459.70 per share, followed by DEAP Capital Management & Trust Plc, which saw its share price rise by 10%. Fortis Global Insurance Plc also gained 10% to close at N0.50 per share.

On the losers’ chart, Multiverse Mining & Exploration Plc suffered the highest loss at 10%, closing at N25.20 per share. The decline was followed by McNicholas Plc, which dropped 10% to close at N8.28 per share. Also in the red was Tripple Gee & Company Plc, which fell 10% to close at N5.40 per share. Another listed equity, Secure Electronic Technology Plc, saw its share price decline by 10% to close at N1.80 per share.

In terms of trading volume, Japaul Gold and Ventures Plc recorded the highest volume with 80.1 million shares traded, followed by Secure Electronic Technology Plc with 67.8 million shares. Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc recorded 58.7 million shares, while Zenith Bank Plc accounted for 53.2 million shares traded.
