The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has received knocks following his absence at the signing of the peace accord ceremony on Thursday.
The event was put together by the National Peace Committee (NPC).
Chaired by former head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar, the NPC peace accord signing ceremony is organized before major elections for candidates to commit to peaceful and issue-based campaigns.
Present at the event, which took place in Abuja, were presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar; Peter Obi of the Labour Party; Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Congress (NNPC) and Omoyele Sowore of the African Action Congress (AAC).
But Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the APC, was nowhere near the venue of the crucial pre-election event.
Although represented by the party’s vice-presidential candidate, Senator Kashim Shettima, Nigerians on social media have continued to express displeasure over Tinubu’s absence.
A lawyer, Ilemona Onoja, believes Tinubu might be due to his alleged physical incapacity.
“Asiwaju Bola Tinubu avoids gatherings like these where the other candidates are present because it will put his physical incapacity & the vacuousness of his ideas in sharp relief. This is why his people hide him & keep him away from events of this nature,” Ilemona tweeted.
Meanwhile, former governor and member of the APC presidential campaign council, Adam Oshiomhole, has said that he does know Tinubu’s whereabouts.
