Italian football manager and former player Marco Baroni has signed a two-year contract to become the new head coach of Serie A club Lazio, with his tenure extending until 2026.
Baroni’s signing as the new coach of Lazio was confirmed in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who informed that the deal has been signed and sealed.
Romano also revealed in his post on the social media platform that the former Hella Verona coach was Lazio’s main candidate to become manager of the club and not Sérgio Conceição, as widely reported in the media.
‘‘Marco Baroni signs in as new Lazio manager this week on two year contract valid until June 2026.
‘‘Former Hellas Verona manager replaces Ivan Tudor who has left the club last week.

‘‘Sérgio Conceição was never close to becoming new Lazio head coach.’’ Romano wrote on his X account.
Baroni was named head coach of Reggina, a recently promoted Serie B team, on December 15, 2020. He left the Calabrians to accept an offer from Serie B promotion contenders Lecce for the 2021–2022 season after helping Reggina to safety.
At the conclusion of the season, Lecce was promoted to Serie A, and Baroni’s contract was extended for the 2022–2023 campaign. Baroni was unable to reach an agreement with the team for a longer contract extension after the season. On July 1, 2023, he was named manager of his last club, Hellas Verona.
