Brighton’s Danny Welbeck delivered a masterpiece on Saturday afternoon by scoring a brace in the 14th and 56th minutes against Liverpool, questioning Arne Slot’s £446 million spending in the last summer transfer window, news.ng reports.

However, Liverpool found a leveller in the 30th minute through Milos Kerkez before Welbeck replied with the winning goal to make it 2-1.

Liverpool’s defeat has cast doubt on whether their head coach will continue next season, thereby risking their Champions League qualification.

Saturday’s victory for Brighton has pushed them to 10th on the table with 43 points, while Liverpool remains in fifth position with 49 points.

Another abysmal performance in Saturday’s fixtures saw Chelsea lose 3-0 to Everton.

Despite Chelsea’s star-studded lineup, including Enzo Fernandez and Cole Palmer, the Blues failed to live up to expectations under new manager Liam Rosenior.

Everton, under the management of David Moyes, delivered a masterclass performance as Beto and Iliman Ndiaye were both on the scoresheet in the 32nd, 62nd, and 76th minutes respectively.

Chelsea’s situation continues to deteriorate after conceding 12 goals in their last four matches across all competitions, as they also crashed out of the Champions League earlier in the week at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

Everton have moved up to seventh with 46 points, trailing Chelsea by two points.

Elsewhere, Fulham FC beat Burnley 3-1, with the latter remaining in the relegation zone in 19th place with 20 points. Fulham are currently ninth with 44 points.
