Liverpool’s star forward, Mohamed Salah, will miss Egypt’s international friendly against Nigeria on December 14, after the club confirmed he will join the Pharaohs on December 15 ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The announcement from Liverpool manager Arne Slot ends speculation over Salah’s availability for the high-profile friendly, ensuring he remains in the club’s squad for three Premier League fixtures before his departure: Sunderland (December 3), Leeds United (December 6), and Brighton & Hove Albion (December 13).
Slot emphasised that the decision followed careful coordination between the player, the club, and the Egyptian Football Association, highlighting a professional approach to managing Salah’s dual responsibilities.
With AFCON running from December 21 to January 18, Salah will miss several Premier League games, beginning with Tottenham Hotspur on December 20 and continuing through key matches, including the home clash with Wolverhampton on December 27.
